On May 28, 2020, the third session of the 13th National Peoples Congress voted and adopted the civil code of the peoples Republic of China, which will come into force on January 1, 2021. Marriage law, inheritance law, general principles of civil law, adoption law, guarantee law, contract law, property law, tort liability law and general principles of civil law shall be abolished at the same time.
